Continent: Asia Hindu Serpent
This piece was inspired by the nāga, the mythical serpent beings of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. The nagi are a race of divine or semi-divine beings, half man, half serpent, who live in the underworld and occasionally take human form. They are primarily associated with water and as guardians of treasure. In Hindu iconography, they primarily represent protection or companionship among the gods. Shiva, one of the principal deities of Hinduism, is often depicted wearing a naga as a garland around his neck. In many Hindu societies, snakes are worshipped as guardians of the home. It is said that when a snake enters your life, you will experience a new birth of creativity and wisdom.
