Being a woman-founded e-commerce platform, we understand the importance of celebrating women today, tomorrow, and forever. As an all-female team, we are constantly promoting and supporting minority-owned businesses, with women being at the forefront of our hunt to find emerging designers.
Having Cult Power means that we take careful time to remind our brands of their self-worth, their ability to make their own choices, and their right to influence social change for themselves and others. We do not only hope to empower but hope to inspire our brands of how much they are able to achieve.
We want to celebrate Cult Power by spotlighting some of our amazing female-led brands featured on our platform and the different initiatives they have in place to inspire other brands and change within the fashion industry.
Andrea Iyamah
Andrea Iyamah is a fashion brand owned by Nigerian designer Andrea Dumbei, where the brand focuses on creating pieces that are strongly inspired by ethnic cultures and elements of nature. Andrea began building her fashion brand whilst studying full-time at university. Her Cult Power lies in her determination to complete her degree and to build an African-owned brand that showcased rich and bold styles, while also being able to have international accessibility. Today, her brand has a following of over 300,000 and has international accessibility through our very platform.
Misty Minton
Misty Minton is the founder of two brands presented on our website; CasaCarta and MaisonGames. She created CasaCarta as a lover of home decor, and found a love for it through her hunt for unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that would brighten up her home. MaisonGames is another extension of her love of home decor. This brand takes a different spin by taking classic games such as backgammon and tic-tac-toe, and creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind, and handcrafted boards with bold colours and themes to brighten up any space. Her Cult Power is that she is a mother running two successful businesses that takes the time to produce beautifully unique pieces for consumers all over the world.
Isabella Michell
Isabella Michell is the founder of La Granni, the London-based unisex knitwear brand, specialising in colour-centric pieces made of the finest Peruvian fibres of alpaca yarn. Born and raised in Peru, Isabella consistently took visits to La Sierra where she would take a keen interest in alpaca yarn and its ability to be made into beautifully coloured garments. Isabella’s Cult Power is that she takes part in making sustainable and ethical choices while running her business. Her pieces are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard and Fair-Trade Peru in Good Practices.
