Meet Claudia, one of our most loyal community members. Two weeks ago she married her husband, David in Capri, Italy. We loved to see that guests had fun in the sun rocking stand-out Cult Mia pieces. We sat down with Claudia to find out some more details about her big day.
Where did you and David meet?
David and I met in New York City in March 2018! I was actually planning to move to LA that summer and needless to say, my plans changed two months later. It was certainly a bet on an early relationship but I trust my instincts and had a good feeling about where our relationship was going.
Why was Capri the chosen destination for your wedding?
My family and I lived in Rome when I was 4-5 years old and so my first childhood memories are in Italy. As a family, we would go back to Italy and specifically the Amalfi Coast for many summers and Capri was always my favorite destination. The cliffs, the sea, and the charming town are so beautiful. When David and I visited together in 2019 (it was his first visit), he thought it was the best place he'd ever been. We made the decision together and David now says he wants to go back for every anniversary - I won't say no!
Can you give us details on the dress, what was your dress meet-cute?
My wedding dress was actually the first dress I tried on. I am a big dress lover so over the years I know what suits my personality and body type. I loved the femininity of Galia Lahav's dresses and visited the boutique when I was in LA. My mom wasn't with me at the time but I sent her a photo in the dress and she said "That's the one. You've been wearing dresses like that since you were five." I love that the dress is romantic and true to who I am.
What was your 'First Dance' song and why?
Our first dance song was "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones. I remember watching the Grammys on TV when I was seven years old and being in awe of Norah Jones's voice. David and I were lucky to see her perform at an intimate concert in 2022 and it is such a fond memory that is now even more special as it was part of our wedding.
What is your favourite memory from your day?
I've been asked this question many times but it is truly impossible to pick one moment in time. I would say the highlight was feeling truly enveloped in the joy and love of our families and closest friends. That feeling is something I will never forget.
Do you have any advice you can share with a couple planning their wedding?
I worked with an amazing wedding planner, Marcy Blum! Especially when it comes to a destination wedding, planning out the logistics is key.
